Food And Drink

For a small beachside community there is a surprising number of good places to eat in Nosara. Many offer not only great food, but also a fantastic atmosphere where you can happily spend many hours, some also boast superb views.  Here are some of our personal favorites.

Lagarta Lodge

The view from the Lagarta Lodge at sunset is a Nosara “Must See”.  The restaurant overlooks the beatiful Boca Nosara nature reserve and it has expansive views of the Pacific ocean from its cliff top location.  The food here is good and consistent but there are many other possibly better places to eat in the area.  However, Lagarta is always worth the drive up there as they make one hell of a Mojito, enjoy one as you watch sun melt into the ocean.

Marlin Bills

The closest you can get to an American diner in Nosara.  Quality food, generous potions and craft beers on tap.  It is the perfect place to go if you need a meat fix or want to enjoy some live sport.

Beach Dog Cafe

Being located just inland from Guiones beach makes this the place to go when you need a quick breakfast or lunch in between surfs.  They serve a range of breakfast/lunch classics with a Costa Rican twist.  The service is fast and the food if good, they have free, fast WIFI and constantly pump out reggae beats.

Harmony Hotel Restarant

The Harmony serves an excellent selection of international cuisine using the freshest local ingredients.  The food is consistently of a very high standard and there is something on the menu for everyone.  The sushi is a great option if you want a light lunch or as something for the amazing cocktails to land on.

Harmony Hotel Juice Bar

We do a fair amount of our video analysis sessions here for two good reasons, the atmosphere and the smoothies.   The smoothies here are all organic and quite simply fantastic, enjoy the wonderful tasting smoothies knowing that they are doing you some good.

Il Basilico

A roadside Tico owned restaurant that serves a mix of Italian and local specialities.  The staff are always very accommodating and the beer is always icy cold.  Try the Arroz Con Pollo (Rice and Chicken) it is one of the best hearty local dishes and nowhere does it better.

Robins Ice Cream & Cafe

Healthy, tasty, and you can follow it up with homemade ice cream, what’s not to like? Robins is one of the most popular lunch options with good reason, however it’s popularity can be its only downside, it can take a while to get your food.  Check the queue before you commit, if it’s looking quiet, get in there.

La Luna

Great food and a great view of the sunset, a perfect place for a sundown drink and quality international cuisine including fantastic sushi.  There are several comfortable places to sit as you watch the sun go down sipping a cold beer or a cocktail.  After dark head inside and enjoy the wide ranging, quality menu.

The Gilded Iguana

Relaxed and lively vibe combined with good food and welcoming staff makes for a great combination.  The Gilded Iguana is always worth a visit, be it for a few drinks or to enjoy the food they have on offer.  They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and all are of a high standard with generous plates of food.  If you are there in the evening and hungry, ask for the “Mason Burger!”

Cafe de Paris

Cafe de Paris have everything.  This French owned business has an excellent bakery that has everything from freshly made croissants to speciality cakes.  Also on site is a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving French and local cuisine, a swimming pool, a bar, and the one and only mini golf course for 50 miles.
